How's everyone doing? Shugnussy here to bring you up to speed on some current events with the stream.

After recently looking over our current streaming setup, and our desire for expansion with more content, we realized we need to change the software we are using to broadcast music on the station. Because of this, we will be messing with the stream a lot this week, and I would just like to apologize in advance in the event the stream goes down. I had to pull the stream down just now for a decent amount of time, and I honestly got a twisty feeling inside while it was down, since I know you guys like to listen. I will try my best to maximize up time this week, but I'm just letting you know now. With this software upgrade, our stream box will soon also be hosting our sister site, Radio Whirlwind. Other than that, I want to keep this update short and sweet until we're done with all the upgrades and I can boast about all the cool new features we get to show off to you guys. If you have any questions or concerns, drop them in the comments below!

Hello everyone, a site update has arrived!

The main changes you guys will notice are:

Multiple Remember Me SessionsYou can now "Remember Me" on multiple devices or browsers at once without them canceling each other out! Due to the nature of this update however, all previous remember me sessions have been invalidated and you will have to login again.

NotificationsCurrently you will only recieve notifications for comments, although more support can be added in the future. If you have any suggestions for other parts of the site to add notifications to, leave a comment below!

Other changesOther than the two things above, there are a multitude of bug fixes, tweaks and other optimizations including (but not limited to):

  • Added playist page link in header and footer.
  • CSS changes and optimizations.
  • JS changes and optimizations.
  • Some template cleanup.
  • Completely rewrote the database module of Baconcore.
  • Completely rewrote plugin system.
  • Moved certain modules (such as blog) to plugins to allow for greater maintainability and compatibility.

The list above is in no way exhaustive as the difference in versions this update was huge (the Baconcore version before this update was 0.191.5 it is now 0.448.2).

As the site is still in development, there are bound to be bugs. If you find any bugs or have any suggestions, feel free to email them to us at dev@radionintendo.com.

Hey friends, it's Shugnussy!

Today I'd like to discuss Radio Nintendo's alternate streams. As you all may know, back in Feburary we partnered with Shinesparkers to celebrate Metroid's 30th Anniversary with the internet's first Metroid Radio station. The project has been a success so far with new content coming soon. Shortly after the launch of Shinesparkers stream, we started testing a radio stream solely dedicated to music from the Super Nintendo. We didn't formally announce this feature, we just added it to our stream directory in the onsite player. In fact, I don't think we formally announced our stream directory on our onsite player either, whoops! To access it, just hit that setting button next to the listener count, and you'll see all the available streams Radio Nintendo is broadcasting on our server.

We had a few listeners enjoy the SNES stream, however, starting today, I've switched the SNES stream to a Nintendo 64 stream, just to test some additional features. This is not permanent change, as we're looking to add additional stations to the site in the future. We'd like to know, what 24/7 radio station would you like to listen to? Should we have stations by console, game series, or game genre? What would you listen to? Feel free to drop a comment on this post, or talk about it with us in our chatroom. Please also let us know of any other issues you may have with the stream. I'm planning to launch 2 streams by the end of the month, with a possibility of more on the way.

Before I end off this post, I'd like to say that yes, live content is returning to Radio Nintendo. We have a set of new hosts ready to bring you content. Before we do however, we are still working on our onsite shows systems, and how we will distribute podcasts to listeners who miss the live broadcast. If you would like to create live audio content on Radio Nintendo, please send me an email at nintendojack@gmail.com! There is much work to be done here at Radio Nintendo, so please hang tight, and as always, keep listening to video game music!

Hello there! My name is Darren and I'm bringing a brand new station and show to Radio Nintendo called Shinesparkers Radio! This is the first dedicated Metroid radio station created to mark the 30th anniversary of the Metroid franchise. You will be able to hear music from thirty years of Metroid, including remixes and arrangements from albums such as Harmony of a Hunter and Metroid Metal. Over time, we plan to build on our music library and add even more music for your enjoyment. We also plan to host a series of live shows, so I hope you'll tune in for those too!

Check out more information here and follow us on Twitter for the latest updates!

It's time for our first stream update of the new year. We've added several brand new soundtracks to the stream including the most recently released Final Fantasy Explorers. We've also made a change to the algorithm. This change was made in order to fix the non-concurrence of music playing due to multiple duplicated folders within our server. Thanks for stopping by and please, be sure to enjoy the brand new additions added to Radio Nintendo.
