Greetings!
I have come to deliver some updates for the holidays!

This update features a bit of a change to the RN design allowing the site to scale more fluidly to varying display sizes, this will be especially apparent if you are on a smaller device such as a phone or tablet.

Aside from the responsive design I have moved RN to a newer version of baconcore which as usual, is full of bug fixes, optimizations etc, some of them include:

  • Search has been overhauled quite a bit.
  • Parts of the framework have been made easier to work with, allowing for quicker development of new features.
  • Some templates have been improved.
  • Started removal of hardcoded text in some templates.

As the site is still in development, there are bound to be bugs. If you find any bugs or have any suggestions, feel free to email them to us at dev@radionintendo.com.

Hey everyone, it's Shugnussy again!

Today I would like to say that Des is no longer part of the management team here at Radio Nintendo. He'll still be around however, if you want to say hi, talk about anime, or lend him any gun ammo. Radio Nintendo will continue to be managed by Bacon and Shugnussy for an indefinite amount of time in the foreseeable future.

So what's next? Well we got a few emails from content creators expressing interest for more live shows, and I'm happy to say Radio Nintendo will be relaunching live content this month. After that, we have a few more surprises to talk about. I'll keep everyone posted on Radio Nintendo news right here, so keep watching!

Hey friends, it's your pal Shugnussy here to spill the beans and tell you exactly what's up at Radio Nintendo.

It's been a fun year for Radio Nintendo in 2015, we got the new site all launched up, a brand new stream that can handle many, many listeners, and much higher quality music. We have our new chat system which does not require Java or any kind of ad-filled web application. All you need to join the chat room is a Radio Nintendo account, which you can create here! Along side all that, waaaay back in April, our team was at the Vancouver Retro Gaming Expo playing tons of video game music in New Westminster, BC which was, as always, a fun experience!

Now I know a lot of you have many questions on what to expect from Radio Nintendo in the future. Will you produce more live shows? What happened to your old content? What other projects are you working on? Luckily for you folks, I'm here to answer many of those for you today.

Will you produce more live shows?

The simple answer, yes, we are interested in bringing back live programming in DJ sets, talk shows, and various other live formats. If you currently run a podcast, or wish to begin live audio broadcasting, feel free to shoot me an email at nintendojack@gmail.com. With that said, when we see a demand from producers who wish to broadcast, then we will resume live programming on Radio Nintendo.

What happened to your old content?

Ah, yes, the good 'ol days of Radio Nintendo. The Minus World, Live Nintendo, Silver's Saturday Show, Talk to the Animal, Game Freaks Live and many others... That content is currently not available on the Radio Nintendo website sadly, however, a lot of those people are still producing content online! If you're looking for the Minus World gang, you can find them over here. Live Nintendo switched over to Blitcast before departing from Radio Nintendo, that content can be found here. SilverSonic isn't doing radio these days, but he's doing frequent live streams on his twitch, and I'd also like to note he made it to Summer Games Done Quick a few months a go to speedrun Shadow the Hedgehog for charity! James is currently doing one-off broadcasts over on Chipbit, his chiptune exclusive radio. Finally you can catch whatever IllusDark8 is doing over at his Radio Whirlwind (which he still needs me to help run).

And yes, those good 'ol Radio Nintendo shows that used to be on air are saved, and you may see those podcasts return to Radio Nintendo in the future! But for now, go enjoy the other content they produce!

What other projects are you working on?

We're going to be testing several ideas. From multiple radio streams playing different content, to lower bandwidth streams that don't use a lot of data so you can listen on a cellular network where you may be limited on your data allotment. We're also in contact with several key people in the video game music industry looking to bring you exclusive content. For more on the back end, we will be rolling out a newer version of our content management system, Baconcore, which will allow site admins and future show hosts to better manage their content on the site. Other than that, there aren't many other things we have planned, at least not developed enough to reveal them, only to have them maybe not see the light of day.

Anyway, thanks again for sticking around with Radio Nintendo, you don't know how happy it makes me seeing everyone here. Also, I'll be sure to set up a special Christmas eve broadcast this year, it's killing me that we missed the holiday shows last year. And if you have anymore questions, just leave them below in the comments!

Hello friends,

When I got the news about Satoru Iwata's death, I was honestly in shock. At first, I thought it was a friend joking around with me, until I finally read Nintendo's press release. I had known about his medical history, missing out on the past few E3's, but overall, I never thought it would result in something as shocking as death. I spent most of my evening rewatching some of his E3 presentations and memorable "direct to you" segments. Iwata contributed a lot of the world of Nintendo, from his work at HAL to launching out Nintendo's most successful console.

From everyone here at Radio Nintendo, and the Nintendo community at large, we will miss you Iwata, you hold a place in our hearts.
